It is perhaps the most amazing masterpiece of Mughal architecture. Red sandstone was used in the construction of the massive fort. It had been declared as a UNESCO World heritage site in the year 2007. The garrison is spread in a margin of around 2 kilometers. It’s octagonal in shape and the layout gives an impression of the amalgamation of Persian and Indian craftsmanship. It used to be the residence of the Mughal rulers for around 200 years.
This grand old structure is another UNESCO World Heritage site in Delhi. Just like the Red Fort, the construction of this monument included the use of red sandstone plus marble. It was built as a symbol of victory by Qutub ud din Aibak, after he defeated the last Hindu ruler.
Apart from these world heritage sites, there’s much more to explore in Delhi. Akshardham Temple is just one of the most visited temples of North India. This magnificent temple is spread in a sizable area of about 8000 meters square. It is among the hottest tourist spots in Delhi. The structure is completely built up of marble and rock. The temple is aptly situated and offers astonishing views.
