India’s National Security Adviser, Ajit Doval, is all set to visit Russia next week with a clear mission — to speed up the delivery of the remaining S-400 missile systems. These advanced air defence systems are a crucial part of India’s efforts to strengthen its security, especially along sensitive borders.
India signed a deal with Russia back in 2018 for five S-400 missile batteries. So far, three have arrived and are already deployed in strategic locations, but two more are still awaited. The delay has caused some concern, partly due to the complex global situation and supply challenges.
Ajit Doval’s visit comes at an important time. Apart from pushing for faster delivery, he will also take part in international security discussions, reflecting India’s growing role on the global stage. This trip highlights the strong defence partnership between India and Russia and shows how both countries are working together to meet urgent defence needs.
With tensions rising in the region, having the full complement of S-400 systems sooner rather than later is a priority for India — and Doval’s visit aims to make that happen.
