COLOUR TRENDS SUMMER 2020:

Pantone Color Institute summed up the S/S 20 colour trends as ‘friendly and relatable’ in that they depict a sense of ease. Spring 2020’s color palette “infuses heritage and tradition with a colourful youthful update that creates strong multi-coloured combinations as well as energising and optimistic pairings” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Institute.

From the hot fierce reds, the subtle sides of green, muted whites, saffrons to the ever cool faded denim blue, we are opening doors to all the hues accentuated in this summer, to help you rearrange and make additions to your wardrobe.

  1. Fierce rouge:

The bold, bright and powerful, the fierce red can’t go unnoticed. It emanates power and undoubtedly makes a statement. To make it more prominent, team it up with heavy chunky gold chains to steal the night away.

2.     The denim story:

This is the season to get you faded denim colour right. Denim on denim had been a favourite look in the 80’s and it has seen a comeback this season. Moreover, the cool shades of denim in other fabrics is making a trend this summer. This hue conveys comfort and can be teamed up with muted tones as well as bold and vibrant colours.

3.     Go emerald:

Shades of green doesn’t seem to leave the runway soon. In the last season it was pistachio and lime green and this season it’s cool and refreshing aqua shades of green. Wear it with shades of white, peaches and pinks to dominate the street style.

4. Feminine Pink:

If pink is your colour, take out the coral muted pink dress from your wardrobe and adorn it right with any pastel hue. In the day time, this colour looks extra cool and comfortable in cottons and linens and for your wine gatherings, you can pick the pink palette in silk, tulle or sequins.

5.    Saffron magic:

The brilliant shade of orangey-yellow adds a sunny shade to your outfit, emitting warmth. This shade has ruled the runways in the recent season in a head to toe look.

6.    Chive it up:

That’s another shade of green but it is much darker, deep and herbaceous. Chive is a great neutral yet rich hue which can be teamed up with neutral tones, blacks and even other colour of the season, saffron.

7.   Warm Whites:

A summer trend can’t be summed up without the muted shades of whites. The spring/summer 2020 saw the whites radiating warmth and class on the runway. In a  head to toe look, experimenting with varied textures and shades, this colour is ruling the summer fashion 2020, as it has done for the centuries.

From classic office wear with a twist of bermuda, to an accentuated bra, there is a wide selection of countless fashion trends to suit everyone’s style and comfort.

  1. Dare to bare: 

This season dare to bare in the new trend of bra accentuation. This summer will see the ultra-glam divas who can carry the risqué fashion with elan, wearing their bralette, textured, sequined  or ornamental brassiere with confidence. It can be worn over your body clinging tees or under your summer trench coats or blazers to elude a powerful look.

2.   The sleeve power:

The last year’s renaissance trend has surely seen a comeback as puffed and structured sleeves are still making a mark. The gatherings can be on the shoulder, down at the elbow or wrists. The over-sized ruffle sleeves have also been spotted at many fashion shows

3.  Tie them down:

The wrapped ankles are seeing their way back after few years. If you have been noticing the high fashion street styles, you would have observed several shows have displayed sandal straps tied around the trousers. 4.    Draw those strings:

Cozy and slouchy style of drawstrings remain to rule the summer trend this season as well. Drawstrings on those off-shoulder tops, waist of a maxi dress, oversized jackets or your pants; this trend is here to stay for a long period of time.

6.   The trench affect:

Ruling your wardrobe for the last few years has been the wide variety of trench coats. Either summers or winters, trench coats have been an essential part of our wardrobe; only the fabric varies from wooden to linen. To accentuate your androgynous look, wear trench coats in wide variety of fabrics, either solids, stripes, florals or tropical prints with some feminine trims.

7.   The sheer factor:

The femininity of your look can be taken a notch higher with the use of sheer fabrics in your summer look. Try on those tulle, net, crochet, organza, lace and other sheer fabrics and try layering them with your slip dress, tube tops, bralettes etc. to make the people stare at you with awe.

8.   Low slung trousers:

The sartorial fashion has been influenced by high waisted pants, denims and shorts for a long period now. But this summer season is witnessing the wave of low waisted baggy style tailored lowers. Team them up with an elegant pair of brogues or oxfords for a power packed look or your sneakers or sports shoes for a casual rugged look.

9.   The maxi dress:

Maxi dresses have been an all-time favourite in the fashion scenes as a summer wear. The easy breezy maxi dress, in the lovely fabrics of chiffons, georgettes, tulle and lace have been ruling the runway this season as well. Choose from a wide variety of solids, print blocking, colour blocking, florals or polka dots.

10.  Broderie Anglaise trend:

For those who are not familiar with this trend, Broderie Anglaise refers to open embroidery, typically in floral patterns, on fine white cotton or linen. This summer witnessed this trend with a new twist comprising of irregular embroideries, intricate patterns and took the haute couture equation to a top-notch level.

11.   Torso ruching:

The art of ruching or gathering has been an old English trend in dresses and gowns. It is often found at wrists of ruffled sleeves or broad shoulder or off shoulder necks.. But this season has seen ruching being used all over the dress, from neckline to the hem, forming interesting tiers of gathers.
