Liver is one of the vital organs of human body and mainly performs the function of detoxification. Detoxification means to remove the toxin accumulated in the body as a result of environmental pollution, chemical based cosmetics and toiletries, medicines, processed food, pesticide treated fruits and vegetables and much more.
Many surprising reasons that increase toxins in your body include body tattoos and body piercing. Alcohol is the primary reason of toxin formation in body and liver. Working conditions like long hours of sitting, chemical industry, exposure to radiations, medical sector, etc. are also responsible for toxifying your body.
To maintain energy levels and healthy body these toxins must be removed from body. Proper functioning of all other body parts also requires regular cleansing and detoxification of body. Liver is the largest gland of human body which does not produce any hormone but plays important role in cleaning and removal of toxins from body.
As the toxins are flushed out of body through liver so it is very important to cleanse the liver also. Liver performs many vital functions like absorbing fats, producing bile, balancing blood composition, processing food nutrients. Alcohol is mainly broken down by liver so it becomes very important to maintain a healthy liver. It is a myth that liver cleansing is required only for alcohol drinkers rather all must clean and detoxify the liver regularly. If you take alcohol then it becomes all the more essential and also if you are taking some drugs or medicines.
Liver cleansing means to induce the liver to flush out the fats, gallstones, drug residue, old cholesterol, poisons and all other toxic materials from body. A healthy liver means a healthy body as most diseases have roots in an unhealthy liver. If you notice symptoms like constipation, bloating stomach, high blood pressure, depression, dark urine, fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, heart burn, acidity and slightly pale eyes and palms, it means you require an immediate cleansing of your liver.
You can easily cleanse your liver by following some directions given below:
1. Drink plenty of water –
Start your day with a glass of water instead of tea or coffee. Do not drink water after meals. You may not feel thirsty when you are busy with work so develop a habit to drink a glass of water after every hour or two.
2. Stop eating toxic foods –
Toxic foods include processed and packed foods with high levels of preservatives. Foods with mono sodium glutamate commonly known as ‘msg’ also increase the toxin level in your blood. Fast foods, refined sugars like those in cakes and pastries, fried food and saturated fats are also responsible for that. So avoid all such kind of food items and follow Detox diet.
3. Detox Diet –
Include as many vegetables and fruit as you can in your food to clean your liver effectively. The micro nutrients present in the vegetables helps to increase the immunity of body. The fiber content helps cure constipation. You can include fresh vegetable juices in your daily diet. You may not find all vegetables tasty and try to avoid them but remember they are very rich in nutrients are important for liver. You can mix the juice of vegetables with fruit juice; also you can take them in form of soups and curries.
3. Include foods with high potassium content –
Potassium rich foods lower the blood pressure, cholesterol level, and hence effectively clean live. These foods include sweet potato, tomato, spinach, beetroot, all kinds of beans, banana etc.
4. Green Tea –
Substitute your regular tea with a healthy one like green tea. You can add a teaspoon honey and ginger juice to have added benefits and good taste.
5. Turmeric –
A known anti biotic and anti – depressant turmeric supports liver cleansing. So use it in your food like curries etc. You can take a small amount of turmeric with a glass of milk or even water.
Detoxifying liver is not very complicated and can you can easily have a clean liver if you a healthy lifestyle including morning walk, light exercise, drinking lot of water, keeping away from alcohol and junk food. A clean liver is a healthy liver.
