The S-400 Triumf is a highly advanced long-range air defence missile system developed by Russia and considered one of the most powerful of its kind in the world. Designed to detect, track, and intercept a variety of aerial threats, the S-400 can target aircraft, drones, cruise missiles, and even ballistic missiles at distances of up to 400 kilometers. India signed a deal with Russia in 2018 to purchase five S-400 missile systems, marking a significant step in strengthening its defence infrastructure. So far, three of these systems have been delivered and deployed at strategic locations across the country, enhancing India’s ability to monitor and defend its borders, especially given the increasing security challenges from neighboring countries.

To address these delays and maintain momentum in upgrading India’s defence, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval is scheduled to visit Russia to discuss speeding up the delivery process.
